Pre-school at home!

Caleb turned four this summer and many of his friends that are his age are in pre-school right now. I thought about sending Caleb but I started working with him on my own. I have really enjoyed it! I usually lay Kyson down for his nap and Caleb and I do "school" until Kyson goes to sleep. This way they don't play together (there used to be days when they would play for hours before either one would go to sleep so I came up with this plan and it seems to work well) and Caleb and I have time to work together. He has learned so much! One of our common activities is getting out the whiteboard and writing words. He has learned how to write his entire name (he needs a little help with the U and N in Gunnell but he does the rest on his own:) Oh, and he's also quite proud of the fact that he's four years old!

Like I said I really have enjoyed working with Caleb. I'm grateful to be at point in life where I have the time to do it. Next year he turns five on July 26th. I'm leaning towards waiting another year to send him to kindergarten since he would be so young for his class. With Caleb being so short for his age I think it might be beneficial for him to be on the older end of his classes rather than always being the youngest. I'm still thinking it through and trying to figure out all of the pros and cons of this. For now I will continue to enjoy working with him and teaching him myself:)

I was thinking we should do our own mini joy school with our boys, but I can't remember to talk to you about it.
This makes me want to buy a white board.

I have thought about the same thing with Blake...I know he's young to be thinking about it, but his birthday is August 20 and I've thought the same thing, that I think he'd have a better time being older than being younger. Also then they don't have to wait a year after graduating to go on their mission...just time to get into trouble! :)
That's so fun that you can do this with him. It's so rewarding to feel like you're actually teaching your kids!!
Oh, and white boards are the BEST!
