It's day 3, and Kyson is doing as good as can be expected. He is definitely giving his nurses a run for their money! He has let this entire PICU know that he has some amazing lungs:) His respitory therapists keep telling me that if he keeps screaming like that they won't have to worry about doing any treatments because he's opening up his lungs all on his own! I guess there is a positive side to the screaming! It's just Kyson though...he's always a screamer. Today he had to get a new IV (the two he had went "bad") and they ended up having to call the IV team to get one in. A little traumatic but he got through it!
Popsicles are great!
Look at me, sitting up in a chair for the first time post-op. So big!
My Mom brought Caleb to visit. Caleb did NOT enjoy it. He wouldn't even look at Kyson and starting crying when I tried to get him to say hi. I sat him down by him to try and take a picture and this is what I got...you can see the look on his face...he did not like it one bit!
I finally bribed him to kiss him on the cheek before he left. Good thing he went to Show Low with my Mom for the week. He will be much happier there!

His color looks awesome! I guess ti is a good thing he is screaming so much, but that can't be fun for mom and dad to listen to and know that you can't do anything about it! Hang in there and we will continue to pray that Kyson heals and feels better soon!
Poor Caleb, he has such a sweet heart. It must have been hard to see his brother with ouchies.
I'm sorry, but I have to laugh at what the respiratory therapists said, I've heard the Kyson scream, and I'm sure it works his lungs well!
Thanks for the update.
Kyson does look wonderful. What a sweet trooper with all those wires, monitors and IVs in/on him. I remember when the kids' IVs would go "bad" and it was so sad watching them try and find a vein, poor little body.
Caleb probably doesn't remember too much the first two surgeries, I am sure he doesn't like seeing his brother like this. Hooray for Grandma's in Show Low! :)
He looks great, and is such a strong boy! I love seeing the pictures, and just know that we are always thinking of your family! Everytime I tell matthew its time to say prayers he says, "I need to pray for Kyson mom. So he can get all better, because his heart is sick." We love you!
He looks like he's doing great. I can't believe how big he is! Keeping him in my prayers. And I feel so bad for Caleb. That would be really traumatic to see a little brother all hooked up. But he'll understand more as he gets older.
I'm sorry I'm just now checking in (outside the facebook world things get around slower). I'm so glad to hear the surgery went well & that his recovery is coming along. We'll continue to keep him in our prayers.
