Baby Fae video

This video was on MSN and I happened to click on it. As I watched it I couldn't help but think of my Kyson. This girl was born with the same heart defect as Kyson, Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. When the Mother was talking about her options I was so grateful that now 25 years later we were given options that allowed our son to live! We were given three options...first, process of three surgeries, second, heart transplant, and third take him home and let him pass away. I am so grateful that last option wasn't my only option!

As the doctor said, "...certainly up until the early 1980's, none of these babies survived...NONE of them," it made me think how incredibly blessed we are. I know Kyson is a miracle, but watching this just reminded me of that again. Medical technology is amazing.

We haven't seen Kyson's cardiologist in almost four months. We will go see him in a little over two weeks. I am anxious to know how his heart is doing. I have a lot of questions that I would like to ask him.

I am so grateful for Kyson and all he has taught me. He has quite the personality! He is feisty, but also very loving. He loves people and can make anyone smile. He loves to throw anything that is in his hands. Don't push the wrong button with him or whatever he has will be thrown at you! He loves to snuggle and gives great hugs. I just love that little man and can't imagine life without him!

Burrell family pictures

Ever since I got my camera I have found that I love taking pictures. More than anything I love that I can capture little moments in my children's lives to look back on and have great memories.

I love when I have a chance to practice using my camera even though I am still learning everything about it and am a definite beginner. Yesterday we went out with our great friends, the Burrell family, and they let me practice. I had a great time! I just thought I would share a few of my favorites...

First off I'll start with their son Jeffrey. Super cute!!!

The box

The Friday before General Conference Jared called me and asked if I wanted to drive to his work. He explained that he had some really big boxes that would be so much fun to build a "fort" for our boys to play in over the weekend. Well, the day got busy and I wasn't able to make it down there in time so I figured they would be forgotten. Of course not! Jared decided to find a way to cram them into his little car to bring them home. When he brought them inside I just had to laugh. He already had it all figured out...how he was going to set it up by making a ramp for their cars, a little peek hole, a place to climb in, and all kinds of fun and exciting stuff! Well, even though it took up half of our living room I think the boys had fun.



Jared even got out the crayons and let them color all over the box. Of course Kyson found that coloring on things was great fun and he colored all over the wall and all over the floor! Oops...no more crayons for that little man!
By Sunday afternoon we were tired of it taking over our living room and Jared hauled it to the trash can while the boys took their nap. Oh, it was fun while it lasted!

And He's Off!

We just said our goodbyes and our good-lucks! Jared is off to his interview for PA (Physician Assistant) school at AT Still. This is a HUGE day for him. Last night as the nerves started to build we first practiced interview questions. What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses? Why do you want to be a PA? etc... Jared then put on his new suit and we debated between shirts and ties. blue shirt, white shirt...orange tie, green tie. So many little decisions, yet really just trying to pass time and settle nerves.
No matter what the outcome, I am so very proud of Jared. He has had a lot of obstacles placed in his way and he has worked so hard to get where he is today. He is a hard worker and a great provider. I love him!
